Nursery
At Oakengates Nursery School, we have a Local Authority Nursery for 2-4 year old children and an Ofsted registered Nursery for 0-2 year old children.
The nursery school is staffed by a Qualified Teacher and Early Years Educators. All staff are highly competent at delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum tailored to individual children’s needs.
Our nursery provides a stimulating, safe and secure environment, where we pride ourselves on our warm and welcoming atmosphere. We strive for our children to be strong, confident, resilient and independent individuals. Therefore we provide children with experiences that are engaging, active, exciting and fun.
The Nursery staff care and cater for the children’s unique learning needs through play and planned adult led activities. Adults support children’s development as they learn new skills and knowledge.
The Early Years Foundation Stage is a very important stage because it helps children to prepare for their next stage in education so they are successful. Our nursery provides children with the secure foundations they need to develop lifelong learning skills.
The Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum is comprised of three prime areas of learning; Communication and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, and Physical Development. These build firm foundations for a child’s learning and development. The curriculum also has four specific areas; Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design. These areas enhance children’s learning and strengthen their development.
In the ever increasing technological world we are living in the children have many opportunities to use technology through their play. This includes the regular use of computers, iPads, digital microscopes and a large interactive ‘Touch Board’.
Children in Nursery make extensive use of their dedicated outdoor area as well as accessing the nursery grounds and the adventure playground to support physical development.
